No deposit is not the whole story
A deposit is money held until you return the car; the excess is the most you pay if it is damaged. Several no-deposit companies still have an excess: WeRent's is $200 unless you add €8 a day, and 4Drive does not publish its amount. Cars4rent, PArent and Cheap Car Rental combine no deposit with zero excess, but charge for at least some tyre damage.
A deposit can be the better deal
OG Drive takes $100–200 but includes zero excess that covers tyres and glass, which most no-deposit rivals charge for separately. Its cover excludes off-road driving and rough-terrain tyre damage, so the advantage applies on normal roads.
Common questions
Does no deposit mean I pay nothing if the car is damaged?
No. A deposit is money held; the excess is what you owe after damage. WeRent takes no deposit but has a $200 excess unless you buy its €8-a-day cover, and 4Drive takes no deposit but does not publish its excess. Check both columns.
Can I rent a car in Georgia without a credit card?
With most local companies, yes: the operators in the first group above accept cash or debit cards at pick-up. Rentmotors takes no cash: you need a Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card for payment and a $300–600 deposit.
How big are deposits when they are charged?
From $100–200 at OG Drive to 300–1,200 GEL at RentUp, 700–1,600 GEL at Citty on standard cover, and $300–600 on a card at Rentmotors.
