Best car rental in Georgia, by category
For a road trip, WeRent ranks first: it and Cars4rent each meet three of our four road-trip criteria, and WeRent has the larger share of automatic 4WD models. Below the ranking are picks for eight specific situations, from zero excess to Tusheti. Each states its criteria first, names every operator that meets them on published terms, and lists the trade-offs of each pick.
Road-trip ranking
How the score worksOne point each for a mostly automatic 4WD fleet, insurance on official gravel and mountain roads for every car class, no deposit or prepayment, and a free Tbilisi airport handover at any hour; ties broken by the share of automatic 4WD models in the listed fleet, then by Google reviews. We chose these four because each covers a cost or risk that a road trip here runs into: gravel and mountain roads need both a suitable car and a contract that covers them, a deposit or prepayment ties up money before you drive, and an airport handover can cost extra at night.
WeRentMeets three: 10 of its 11 listed models are automatic 4WD, it takes no deposit or prepayment, and the Tbilisi airport handover is free at any hour. Official gravel roads are insured for every car, but Tusheti is open only to its off-road class and is not insured, so the roads point is not given.
Road-trip score 3/4
- Meets: Mostly automatic 4WD fleet
- Does not meet: Gravel roads insured in every class

Cars4rentMeets three: 4 of the 6 models on its home page are automatic 4WD, it takes no deposit or prepayment, and airport delivery is free with no out-of-hours charge. City/Highway cars may not go off-road, and its Easy Off-Road class excludes Tusheti, Ushguli, Lentekhi and the Akhaltsikhe–Khulo road.

Picks by situation
Picks within a category are listed alphabetically, except mountain roads, ordered by how widely each company's terms insure official gravel roads, and review volume, ordered by review count.
Situation 01
Zero excess and no deposit, both in the price
CriteriaThe standard price includes cover with no excess, and no deposit is taken on standard cars.
Picks
Cars4rent4.9 from 3,518 Google reviewsCheap Car Rental4.9 from 280 Google reviews
Pro Auto Rent5.0 from 1,715 Google reviews
All three state no franchise or deductible in the standard price and no deposit on standard cars, so what you can lose on a damage claim is limited to what the cover excludes.
Trade-offs
All three charge for at least some tyre damage: Cars4rent €60–150 a tyre, Cheap Car Rental €100–200, and PArent’s terms and agreement disagree on which tyres. Cheap Car Rental requires drivers aged 27 with five years’ experience. If tyre and glass cover matters most, OG Drive includes both at $0 excess but takes a $100–200 deposit, and excludes rough-terrain tyre damage. Car Rent Deme says Super CDW is built into its price, but its pages describe the insurance in conflicting ways.
Situation 02
Night arrivals at Tbilisi airport
CriteriaFree Tbilisi airport pick-up and night handovers at no extra charge, both stated by the operator.

Picks
Cars4rent4.9 from 3,518 Google reviewsOG DriveGoogle listing not matched
WeRentGoogle listing not matched
Cars4rent’s home page promises free delivery at the airport and its terms say out-of-hours and holiday service costs nothing extra. OG Drive says Tbilisi airport pick-up is free, that it works 24/7 and that delivery to the airports is included in the price, and it meets you in the arrivals hall. WeRent states €0 at Tbilisi airport at any hour, meets you in the arrivals hall and tracks your flight number.
Trade-offs
Cars4rent does not describe its airport handover on the pages we could use. OG Drive takes a $100–200 deposit, and its pages also give opening hours of 07:00–00:00 and 06:00–23:00. WeRent’s included cover has a $200 excess unless you add €8 a day, every booking carries a €25 service fee, and we could not match a Google listing for it. Near misses: PArent charges nothing for night handovers but publishes no airport fee; Car Rent Deme and 4Drive publish free airport pick-up but no night-fee rule.
Situation 03
Mountain roads: Svaneti, Juta and other gravel stretches
CriteriaPublished terms that allow official gravel and mountain roads, in at least one car class.
OrderOrdered by how widely the published terms insure official gravel roads: every car (Tusheti aside) first, then one car class, then terms that contradict each other.
Picks
WeRentGoogle listing not matched
Cars4rent4.9 from 3,518 Google reviewsPro Auto Rent5.0 from 1,715 Google reviews
RentUpGoogle listing not matched
4Drive GeorgiaGoogle listing not matched
WeRent states that all official roads, including gravel and dirt, are insured for every car, and lists 10 automatic 4WD models among 11. Cars4rent and PArent let cars in their Difficult Off-Road class use any official road, with zero excess. RentUp insures gravel in its 4x4 category, which includes a Prado, Pajero and Delica. 4Drive’s 4x4 page says standard cover applies on unpaved public roads.
Trade-offs
WeRent’s cover has a $200 excess unless you pay €8 a day, its zero-excess cover does not mention tyres or underbody, and it does not insure Tusheti. Cars4rent and PArent limit permission to one class, make the renter liable where a road exceeds the car’s clearance and charge for tyres; PArent publishes no 4WD model list. RentUp takes a deposit of up to 1,200 GEL in that category and excludes tyres, wheels and underbody. 4Drive’s terms exclude off-road driving except designated 4x4 routes, contradicting its 4x4 page.
Situation 04
Tusheti and the Abano Pass
CriteriaPublished permission to drive to Tusheti, and no statement that the route is uninsured.

Picks
4Drive GeorgiaGoogle listing not matched
Cars4rent4.9 from 3,518 Google reviewsPro Auto Rent5.0 from 1,715 Google reviews
RentUpGoogle listing not matched
4Drive says Tusheti is possible in a 4x4 and that standard cover applies on the gravel route. Cars4rent allows Tusheti only in its Difficult Off-Road class, and PArent excludes Tusheti for its lower classes but not for its Difficult Off-road class. RentUp allows an off-road 4x4 with written agreement in advance.
Trade-offs
4Drive’s terms exclude off-road driving except designated 4x4 routes, contradicting its 4x4 page. Cars4rent charges up to €150 per damaged tyre in that class and makes the renter liable beyond the car’s clearance. PArent never names Tusheti as allowed; it is implied by its class rule. RentUp adds 500 GEL to the excess on this route, takes a deposit, and its pages give different age and experience minimums for higher categories. WeRent allows only its off-road class and says Tusheti is not insured; Citty, Car Rent Deme and Localrent prohibit it, and so does OG Drive’s FAQ.
Situation 05
Families and groups: 7-seat 4WD
CriteriaAt least three listed models with seven or more seats and four- or all-wheel drive.

Car Rent Deme5.0 from 853 Google reviews
Citty4.9 from 1,549 Google reviews
Kakhas Car RentGoogle listing not matchedRentUpGoogle listing not matched
Royal Car RentGoogle listing not matched
WeRentGoogle listing not matched
Car Rent Deme and RentUp list four each (Deme: Highlander, 4Runner, Sienna Hybrid AWD, Lexus GX 460; RentUp: Prado, Pajero, Outlander, Delica). Citty lists three, including a Prado and Fortuner; Kakhas lists three (Outlander, Mazda CX-9, Highlander); Royal Car Rent lists three flagged 4x4 (Mercedes Metris and V-class, Toyota 4Runner); WeRent lists three (4Runner 2020–2025, Highlander, Outlander).
Trade-offs
Car Rent Deme takes 20% online to confirm, prohibits all off-road routes and describes its insurance in conflicting ways. Citty holds a 700–1,600 GEL deposit unless you buy extra cover. Kakhas publishes no terms page, so its excess and fees are unknown. RentUp holds a deposit of up to 1,200 GEL and charges 20 GEL a day per extra driver. Royal Car Rent’s terms allow paved roads only, its 4Runner is semi-automatic, and it publishes no excess or airport fees. WeRent has a $200 excess unless you add €8 a day, a €25 service fee and charges €4 a day per child seat.
Situation 06
Cheapest automatic 4WD for two weeks
CriteriaLowest published daily price for an automatic 4WD on a rental of 14 days or more.
Pick
Car Rent Deme5.0 from 853 Google reviews
One Car Rent Deme page lists a Subaru Crosstrek at €30 a day, and its main price tables list a 2018 Forester at €35 from 14 days. The next lowest is Silk Road Rentals, with a Mitsubishi Pajero iO at €35 a day over two weeks.
Trade-offs
Car Rent Deme’s prices differ between pages, it takes 20% online and charges €80–120 for one-way drop-offs. Silk Road wants the full price in advance and publishes no excess or airport terms. Prices change with dates; confirm yours.
Situation 07
Largest review base
CriteriaMost Google Maps reviews on a single listing, among the 5 operators whose listing we could match.
Picks
Cars4rent4.9 from 3,518 Google reviewsPro Auto Rent5.0 from 1,715 Google reviews
Citty4.9 from 1,549 Google reviews
These three each have more than 1,500 reviews averaging 4.9 or higher.
Trade-offs
Review volume reflects size and age as much as service. Eight operators had no listing we could match; their reputation is unmeasured here, not poor. Citty takes a deposit on standard cover, and its English and Russian pages disagree on deposit size, minimum age and cancellation.
Situation 08
Most choice in one search
CriteriaLargest number of cars bookable through one website.
Pick
LocalrentGoogle listing not matched
Localrent is a marketplace that says it lists 2,867 cars in Georgia from local suppliers, with filters for deposit, transmission and all-wheel drive.
Trade-offs
You prepay 15–20% online and sign with a supplier named only after booking. Its published route rule is paved public roads only, and its own pages disagree on deposit size.
Common questions
What is the best car rental company in Georgia for a road trip?
WeRent ranks first on our road-trip score. It and Cars4rent each meet three of four criteria (a mostly automatic 4WD fleet, no deposit or prepayment, and a free Tbilisi airport handover at any hour), and WeRent has the larger share of automatic 4WD models: 10 of 11 against 4 of 6 listed. For narrower needs, the picks by situation on this page name the operators that fit best.
Which rental company is best for a road trip with mountain roads?
Look for terms that cover the roads you plan to drive, not just a 4x4. Five operators publish rules allowing official gravel and mountain roads: 4Drive (its terms conflict), Cars4rent and PArent (Difficult Off-Road class), RentUp (4x4 category) and WeRent. See mountain 4WD fleets.
Which rental companies have the most reviews?
Among listings we could match on Google Maps: Cars4rent (3,518 on its downtown listing), PArent (1,715) and Citty (1,549), all rated 4.9 or 5.0, checked 24 Oct 2026.
